Pinterest’s (NYSE:PINS) stock has performed well over the past two years on the back of accelerating growth and improving margins. There appears to be growing concern about the strength of consumers and the digital advertising market, though. While this could create short-term volatility, Pinterest is well positioned to navigate any weakness as a result of its improving tech stack and strong balance sheet. I previously suggested that Pinterest’s share price, and the narrative surrounding the company, was trailing its recovery after a difficult multi-year period. Pinterest remains a growing platform with an under monetized user base, although this is changing…
In mid-May, Joe Biden issued a blustery challenge to Donald Trump, saying he was willing to debate him twice ahead of the US presidential election in November. “Make my day, pal!” Biden said. “Let’s pick the dates.” The two campaigns quickly settled on June 27 in Atlanta, Georgia. For Biden, it turned out to be one of the most dramatic miscalculations in the history of modern US presidential campaigns: the 81-year-old president performed so poorly against Trump in the debate that he doomed his own re-election hopes. On Sunday, the president announced he would no longer seek a second term in the…
In the end, President Joe Biden exited the political stage in isolation. After weeks of fighting for his political life – insisting he wasn’t going anywhere following a disastrous debate performance – the president’s about-face did not come in an Oval Office address or a speech on the campaign trail. Instead, it came in letter posted to social media as he recovered from Covid-19 at his beach house in Delaware. It was a low-key way to reveal one of the most historic decisions in modern American politics, but time was not on Biden’s side to reach a decision or make an announcement. Never…

Here’s my pick of beachside cities ideal for retirees in Europe, Latin America, and Southeast Asia. There’s good and bad news for mortgage rates this week. The good news is rates have continued their slow downward trend, averaging 6.87% on 30-year, fixed-rate mortgages, Freddie Mac reported. Although this is promising, lowering interest rates is far from the norm. Last week, 30-year mortgages had average rates of 6.95%. However, compared to a year ago when rates averaged 6.67%, this week and last week’s rates are still relatively high. Still, any improvement is better than nothing.”Mortgage rates fell for the third straight week following signs of cooling inflation and market expectations of a future Fed rate cut,” Freddie…
President Biden has announced a new student loan bailout for 35,000 borrowers through “Public Service Loan Forgiveness,” a program that Biden says has brought the total number of people getting debt relief from his administration to 4.76 million. Under the new plan, eligible public service workers get an average of $35,000 in debt relief, a statement from Biden’s administration said, totaling about $1.2 billion. “These 35,000 borrowers approved for forgiveness today are public service workers – teachers, nurses, law enforcement officials, and first responders who have dedicated their lives to strengthening their communities,” the statement said. “And because of the fixes…

Independent Sen. Joe Manchin on Sunday called on President Joe Biden to exit the race against former President Donald Trump.”I came to the decision with a heavy heart that I think it’s time to pass the torch to new generation,” said Manchin on CNN’s “State of the Union.”The West Virginia senator, who registered as an independent in May but caucuses with Democrats, also called for an open nomination process, suggesting Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear as contenders. That contrasts with others who view Vice President Kamala Harris as the favorite to take over the top of…
The Secret Service denied some of former President Donald Trump’s requests for additional security resources over the past two years, an official with the agency confirmed to NBC News. The Secret Service official said extra security accommodations could not always be made for Trump due to the department’s limited resources. The Washington Post was first to report the Secret Service’s acknowledgement. The requests that were denied did not pertain to the July 13 shooting at Trump’s Pennsylvania rally where the former president was injured, one person was killed and two others were critically wounded.”In some instances where specific Secret Service specialized units…
The world learned relatively quickly that cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike was behind a crippling global tech outage on Friday. But figuring out who will pay the bill for the damages could take a lot longer. What one cybersecurity expert said appears to be the “largest IT outage in history” led to the cancellation of more than 5,000 commercial airline flights worldwide and disrupted businesses from retail sales to package deliveries to procedures at hospitals, costing revenue and staff time and productivity. The problem was caused by a few bits of CrowdStrike’s own bad code in a software “content update.” Unfortunately, fixing…
