• YouTuber SadlyItsBradley posted a video of himself taking the Meta Quest 3 headset to Disney World.
  • Others have been recording themselves wearing the Quest 3 while going to cafes or doing chores.
  • Due to the mixed-reality headset’s portability, the YouTuber said it’s great to use on the go.

Meta’s new Quest 3 headset is best enjoyed on the go, according to YouTuber Bradley Lynch. To prove his point, the YouTuber took his mixed-reality headset for a day at Disney World.

Lynch, who posts under the YouTube account SadlyItsBradley, said in his video that he wanted to play “devil’s advocate” for people wearing the Meta Quest 3 headset in public. In his opinion, the ability to use the headset while walking around is actually one of its main benefits.

In the video, Lynch shows himself at Disney World walking around Epcot, looking at Cinderella’s Castle, sitting on a ride, and watching a firework show, all while wearing the Quest 3.

“I am an absolute glasshole,” he said in the video, referencing the old insult aimed at early adopters of the ill-fated Google Glass headset who drew criticism for wearing the controversial device out in public.

Lynch said in the video that since you sacrifice the power of a desktop-powered device for all-in-one mobility with the Quest 3, it makes sense to take advantage of that.

He also said that because the device uses camera-based tracking, it works best in areas with good lighting, like the outdoors. It also works better during the day, as Lynch said his view of the fireworks didn’t look great through the headset.

When it came to living in mixed reality indoors, Lynch told Insider that the lighting in his home wasn’t bright enough to give him a good view through the headset. He said the Meta headset would need to improve its visuals in order for him to prefer it over his PC.

As for people’s reactions, Lynch told Insider that most of the other Disney World visitors didn’t bother him, but when he was sitting on the artificial grass outside the castle, people would point and smile at him.

“The best reaction was actually when I was pulled aside by Disney Security for an extended bag check. The woman doing the search was pretty interested when I told her I was planning to use the device as a laptop,” Lynch said.

One downside of the device is that the experience wasn’t 100% hands-free, according to the YouTuber. Lynch said in the video that he had to click and drag on the virtual windows of content so they’d stay with him while he walked around the park.

Another issue Lynch noticed with the device is that it tended to warp your vision. Sometimes railings on rides would appear bent, for example. This is something that other people who wore the device also noticed. Threads user @Jaymayo_visits also had the warping effect when he wore the Quest 3 to New York Comic Con.

As someone who lives near Disney World, Lynch told Insider he visits the parks frequently, which allowed him to film himself at the park, and he’d probably wear the headset to it again.

“I imagine many local park visits are in my future while looking like a three-eyed cyborg,” he said, referencing the three prominent outward-facing cameras on the front of the Quest 3.

Lynch is the latest person to dare to wear the Quest 3 out in public. Other tech enthusiasts have taken to platforms like X, TikTok, and Reddit to share videos of themselves wearing the device in public. Maybe one day mixed reality will be part of everyday life.

“I don’t think these devices have to become tiny pairs of sunglasses for a lot of people to find themselves wanting to use them instead of laptops. I think functionality over form will win people over more than they think,” Lynch said.
